TOMAŽ PODOBNIKAR works at the Spatial Information Centre,
Scientific Research Institute of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts. He is engaged in the
application and development of geographical information systems and digital elevation models.

He learnt to play the piano at a preparatory music school. He began interpreting
folk music in 1989. He tried himself at various musical instruments, mostly
as an autodidact. His specialties are the singing saw and dulcimer. He takes
his choice from amongst folk music such as suitably performed on specific
musical instruments or music associated with its traditional or original
environment.
He collaborated with authors of different genres. In 1991 and 1993 Glasbena
mladina Slovenije (Jeunesses Musicales Slovenia) enabled him to attend youth
camps and festivals of ethno music in Falun, Sweden. In 1998 he gave, together
with an all-around group All Capone štrajh trio, a concert at Slovenska filharmonija
/Slovenian Philharmonic Society/. He was a guest at a number of festivals
and musical events in Slovenia, Sweden, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Poland,
Latvia, Austria, Italy, Germany, Bosnia, Macedonia, Russia, Egypt, and Australia.
